The Carmel Arts Council 20th Anniversary: Supporting the Arts
|Author:||Doreen Squire Ficara|
This book commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Carmel Arts Council (CAC), including its fascinating stories over the years and a collection of photographs and newspaper excerpts highlighting various events. It also contains a list of presidents from 1993-2014, along with the Executive Director, Board Officers, Board Members, Associate Members, Auxiliary Members, and Honorary Lifetime Members.
From the book:
While Carmel has always had a culture of art, especially with a strong community symphony; like most Indiana cities and towns, there had been no concerted effort to cultivate, grow and support the overall local arts community in an organized fashion. In the early 90’s, however, Mayor Ted Johnson recognized that there needed to be more cultural activity in Carmel. In addition he felt that the City, the small group of dedicated arts supporters and the existing arts organizations could benefit from the establishment of an arts council. It is the mission of the Carmel Arts Council to encourage and promote the arts for all ages through leadership, financial, and volunteer support in order to nourish a vibrant culture in the Carmel community.
