This bar code is the ISBN number transferred into machine-readable form. The electronic scanning lines printed on the back cover or book jacket are encoded with information about the book product, such as the title, publisher, and price.
eBook
Electronic file format to which books may be published. Although dedicated devices may be used to read eBooks, they may be read on other platforms such as PDAs and personal computers as well.
Emboss
A binding that has been printed with a raised design.
Endnote
A endnote is for reference citations and supplementary information that appears at the end of the chapter or book. See footnote.
Endsheets or Endpages
The plain white, colored, decorated, or printed paper that is at the front and end of a book, one half of which is pasted down to the binding. The endpapers are used to give a finished look to the binding.
Endorsement
Promotional statement by someone recommending a book, often found on the dust cover or near the front of the book.
Epilogue
Additional text at the end of the book, that provides readers with additional information on the subject.
